The sky bled crimson as the creature’s tri-clawed feet sank into the ash-drenched soil, its luminescent eyes fixed on the metallic gleam piercing the horizon. Every step crackled with the static of foreign gravity, its carapace shuddering under the weight of an atmosphere not its own. The rocket stood dormant, a skeletal giant half-buried in jagged obsidian shards—its thrusters scarred, its hatch sealed by time and debris. The creature’s vocal sac pulsed with urgency, emitting subsonic whirs only machines could decipher. It scavenged, claws prying open corroded panels, salvaging coils of copper and fractured fuel cells. Thunder rumbled as storms brewed overhead, threatening to drown its signal. With a final surge, it rerouted power through its own bioluminescent veins, the ship groaning awake. Engines flared violet, scattering ash like dying stars. The hatch hissed open, beckoning. One leap. Then silence. The sky fractured as the rocket tore upward, leaving a trail of ionized light—a beacon, a farewell, a homeward scream swallowed by the cosmos.
