Use Your Mouse
Mickey Mouse, the iconic cartoon character and official mascot of The Walt Disney Company, was brought to life in 1928 through the creative partnership of Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. With his signature red shorts, oversized yellow shoes, and white gloves, this cheerful, human-like mouse has grown into a globally celebrated figure. His earliest prototype surfaced in the test short *Plane Crazy*, but it was the groundbreaking synchronized sound animation *Steamboat Willie* later that year that marked his official introduction to audiences. Over the decades, Mickey starred in more than 130 films, blending short classics like *The Band Concert* (1935) and *Brave Little Tailor* (1938) with experimental feature appearances such as *Fantasia* (1940). His films earned ten Academy Award nominations for Best Animated Short, with the 1942 entry *Lend a Paw* securing the win. Cementing his cultural legacy, Mickey received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1978—a historic first for an animated character.
