Tap To Play
Known as football in the U.S. and Canada, and sometimes called gridiron, this sport pits two teams of eleven players against each other on a rectangular field flanked by goalposts. The offensive team, holding possession of the oval ball, strives to move it downfield through runs or forward passes. Opposing them, the defensive team works to halt that progress and seize control. To retain possession, the offense must gain ten yards within four attempts (downs); success resets their downs, while failure hands the ball to the opposition. Scoring hinges on reaching the opponent’s end zone for a touchdown or kicking the ball through their goalposts for a field goal. Victory goes to the team with the highest points when time expires.
