ARMA (stylized as ARMA) is a tactical first-person military shooter franchise emphasizing realism and large-scale simulation. Initially launched for Microsoft Windows in 2006, the series blends expansive open-world combat with intense close-quarters engagements. Titles are set across vast terrains, requiring strategic coordination alongside direct action. The first entry, *ARMA: Armed Assault*—marketed as *ARMA: Combat Operations* in the U.S.—debuted in late 2006 across Europe, followed by a North American release in May 2007. Built on the Real Virtuality 2 engine, it established the franchise’s focus on authentic military operations. The third main installment, *ARMA 3*, arrived on September 12, 2013, utilizing the upgraded Real Virtuality 4 engine. Prior to its official launch, a public beta became accessible through Steam’s Early Access program in March 2013. Over 2015–2016, the game expanded to Linux and macOS, though these versions initially lagged behind the Windows edition in updates. Later entries broadened platform support to include mobile systems like Android and iOS, maintaining the series’ signature blend of realism and adaptability across devices.
